A Ghost In The Studio
Collage & Mixed Media by Alicia Byler

How many paintings are about your sister? Only all of them. Only, now thinking about it these nearly twenty-seven years, perhaps not about her, but about her death. So the paintings are about death? Yes, Death. And Life. And the fact that they are Lovers.

Another intriguing show that I’m privileged to be part of, Stubborn Gladness opens at Third Story Art in Lancaster City on Friday, July 11th, 5-8pm.
40 artist, 70 works of art. Sharing joy despite it all.
Inspired by a line from the poem, “A Brief for the Defense” by Jack Gilbert:
“We must have the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless furnace of this world.”
Visit this charming gallery where the work will be on view through August 23rd.
Thrilled to be included in the New Orleans Photo Alliance show in partnership with Kolaj Institute. Where Photography Meets Collage exhibition is open from June 25 - August 14, 2025. See my piece Weirdo Goddess - The Cocoons Blossom Like Kisses Into Wings and Petals if you find yourself in the area.
